Today, together with Room 4 we showed our parents what we have been learning to do in our school pool.
There were some fun activities and some activities showing our swimming skills.
Welcome to our blog. We are a class of year 0-1 students (5-6 yr olds) at Hope Primary School in New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Ross and this blog is a journal of our learning experiences while we are here in Room 3.

Visiting The Tasman District Library
A few times a term we take the bus into Richmond and go to the Tasman District Library. Room 3 travel with Room 2 and we enjoy the great resources that the Library has to offer. We all have our own library card and can get a couple of books each to take home. One of the best things about going is the sheer range of books we get to enjoy. There is nothing better than some fabulous books to look at....I think it's fair to say these children enjoyed it too.
Discovery Time 20 -2-15
This week the main focus for Discovery Time was on developing our fine motor skills. We had Duplo and Lego, line drawings to cover, we made stick men, we cut noodles with scissors, and rolled newspaper then threw it at a sellotape web.
We were also looking at the Key Competency of "Managing Self" and making the right choices.

A Day of fun to start our school year off...
Today we joined together with Room 4 and took a trip to Teapot valley camp where we enjoyed three different activities throughout the day. Lots of children tried things they had never done before. Nice to see everyone giving things a go. Thanks to all our parent helpers who came to help and enjoyed the day with us.

Discovery Time: Term one Week one
In Room 3 we have Discovery Time every Friday morning.
Discovery Time is an action packed, activity based programme. It provides opportunities for children to take control of their learning through ‘hands on’ experiences. They learn to problem solve, think creatively, accept other peoples ideas, take a risk, look after equipment, share, take turns and also how to clean up when we are finished.

But best of all, it is fun!!!
