Measurement At The Museum

Today we went into the Nelson Museum and visited the Vital Statistics Exhibition.
We had a very hands on learning experience to find out how and why things are 'measured' in today's modern world as well as in the past.

Go Fish!

Today we learnt how to play 'Go Fish'.
The children are doing so much learning while playing these games and they don't even know it.

Snakes and Ladders

Today we learnt how to play Snakes and Ladders. It is a good game for us to learn what number is the biggest in a row...because when we have our turn we need to know which way to move our counter. So we move up and not down the row!

Too Cute!

For Show and Tell today Adam brought in his baby ducklings.
They were Muscovy Ducks. The Mother was very calm in the classroom and didn't seem to be too worried about her babies wandering about our class. The babies were so soft and cuddly and we all got to hold one.

Some puppies came to visit

Last year Hannah was in our classroom, she is in Room 4 now but her puppies came to visit us anyway. Thanks Maryanne for bring them in.

Statistics

We have been learning to sort objects into groups:
Room 3 children placed themselves into many different groups this week.
Below are two groups...can you see what they each have in common??
...There is a group of children wearing pants and a group of children wearing a dress/shirt.

We also grouped the different flavours found in a lolly scramble packet. We made a display of the information we found.

Milkshake lollies were the most popular flavour in this packet.
I wonder if another lolly scramble packet would be the same??

It has been so Hot!!

In Room 3 we go for a swim in our school pool everyday after lunch. Believe me, in this heat, we are well ready for a cool off by then!
There are some very confident water babies in our room this year and many who can already get themselves through the water with ease.
