Who We Are...

What is Culture?....
Culture is what makes us special. It is the language we speak, the traditions, values and beliefs we have.
The fact that there is so many different cultures in the world is what make this planet so wonderful.

In Room 3 we have discovered what our culture is as a group of students....What makes us special. What makes us who we are...

Culture - Germany

As part of our on-going look at Culture and what makes us who we are.... we had a visit from Louis Dad (Timo) today. He grew up in Germany and told us a bit about what it was like when he went to school there, as a young boy.
In Germany children don't start school until they are 6 years old and everyone starts together at the same time of year regardless of when their birthday is. He gave us some German liquorice to taste...some of us didn't like it at all.

Cultures - Japan

Today we had Matsuri come into talk with us about what her life was like in Japan when she was the same age as we are now. Matsuri is an international student studying at Waimea College and she lives with one of our Room 3 children.
She was very interesting...she wrote some words on the white board in Japanese.
Did you know that in Japan they call you by your last name first followed by your first. Hello in Japanese is "Konnichiwa"

Cross Country 2018

Yesterday our whole school went out to Rabbit Island to take part in our Cross Country races. It had been a freezing cold start to the day but the sun came out and made it a great afternoon.
Thanks to our parents for helping with transport.

Buddy Time

This week at buddy time we were working on the computers with our buddies. We spent some time designing some possible logos to match  some of our life skills.
