Today we made some Easter bunny biscuits....What fun! We had to read the recipe and make sure we followed all the instructions. Once the biscuits had been cooked, some of us chose to give our biscuits to another person the rest of us chose to eat them.
We found out... that there is just as much pleasure in giving a gift as there is, in receiving one.
Welcome to our blog. We are a class of year 0-1 students (5-6 yr olds) at Hope Primary School in New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Ross and this blog is a journal of our learning experiences while we are here in Room 3.

Kiwi Sports at Brightwater
Yesterday Room 3 and 4 children, along with children from Brightwater, Appleby, Ranzau and Wakefield Schools went to the Brightwater Domain for a fun filled morning of different sporting activities. It was great to see some of our friends from other schools and to meet some new friends. Again a big thank-you goes to all the fabulous parent helpers we have.

Exploring Cable Bay
On Friday the whole school took a trip to Cable Bay. All classes have been looking at the creatures that live at the 'rocky shore' and the environment they live in. This trip to Cable Bay enabled us to see these creatures in their natural habitat.
As well as looking into the rocky shore we have also had a focus on water safety. So while we were at Cable Bay that gave us a prime opportunity to test out our water safety skills in the sea.
We had a fantastic day and learnt so much. Thanks to all those parents who helped transport us to and from Cable Bay. We are so lucky to have such great support.
Take a look at this slide show to see some of the fun learning experiences we had.

Life Jackets
We have been looking at the different types of life jackets...some have whistles, some have head supports, some have zips, some have a cord to pull to inflate them....
We have also learnt how to help someone put a life jacket on and what to do if we find ourselves in the water waiting to be rescued.
So long as we are wearing our life jackets, don't panic, and lie on our backs, we will be ok.

We have been learning to throw a ball correctly and we are getting pretty good at it. Bryony from "No Child Left inside" has been coming out one day a week to help us.
