Making Lollies for our School Fair.

This weekend we have our annual School Fair....
Room 3 children have traditionally made some marshmallow lollies to sell and this year is no different.
We dipped marshmallows in chocolate and then into sprinkles or coconut. After that we put 3 of these marshmallow onto a bamboo skewer. These lolly sticks will be sold on Saturday. Hope you can come!!

Crystals using Borax

We made some crystals using borax....we are learning a lot about the reaction between ingredients and what happens when these different ingredients are mixed.

  

When we came back to school the next morning we were amazed to see the beautiful crystals growing on the pipe cleaner inside the borax solution.

Money... Money... Money...

We have been looking at our NZ money and learning how to recognise the coins and notes. We have also been learning that their are different ways to make amounts  eg. 50 cents can be made using 5  x 10 cent coins or 2 x 20 cent coins and 1 x 10 cent coin.  We have learnt that counting in 10's is a very good way of counting money too.

  

Discovery Time Week 6 Term 3

This week  our activities were...puzzles, baking soda experiment, blocks, making fathers day cards, and creating huts. What fun!!
