Today we had Max from the Mako rugby team come and help us learn some new skills. He will be back for two more sessions.
Welcome to our blog. We are a class of year 0-1 students (5-6 yr olds) at Hope Primary School in New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Ross and this blog is a journal of our learning experiences while we are here in Room 3.

What is a Pepeha?
A Pepeha is a way of introducing oneself. Using a set structure it identifies who we are, where we're from and where we belong. Pepeha is used in a Māori context and has a formal basis, but the idea is universal. Everyone has a pepeha which links them to their ancestors.
In Room 3 we have been learning to say our Pepeha..... We have created a version that each of us will be able add to in years ahead.... as we grow and learn more about our families and how we connect to our natural surroundings.
We created some self portraits and then used an app on the ipads called 'Chatterpix' to record our pepeha.
Some of these vary in content as the children learn to orally recite each of their introductions.
