Soccer and Hockey

Room 3 have been learning some soccer and hockey skills.

I love soccer because I like kicking the ball and also we get to run outside. Olivia

Learning How to Read e-books on the Computer

Today we learnt how to use Oxford Owl to read books online. We can access these books via this class blog on the 'Listen to Reading' tab above. We were able to use our new head phones as well. 

What a fun way to read books and listen to how good reading sounds!

Road Safety

Room 3 and 4 have been learning how to be safe in cars and when crossing roads. Constable McKitrick came to school and we all practiced putting our safety belts on in his police car.

                       

We practiced crossing the road at school and also walking past sneaky driveways. When we were in Richmond we had to be really careful as there was lots of traffic. We walked across pedestrian crossings, and had to look both ways in case there were any cars coming. We had to make sure they stopped for us. When we crossed at the traffic lights we had to wait for the green stick man before we could cross. Just ask your child to learn more about safety in and around cars and what to look for.

Learning to Take Photos

This week we have been learning how to take photos...
We all practiced by taking a photo of our class dog. The dog had to be in the middle of the photo and the card with our name on it needed to be in front. That way people looking at our photos could see who took them. Take a look at this slide show to see how our first photo shots turned out....

Then....today we took photos of our lego creations....this time, as well as our names, we had to write a caption about what we had made and make sure the caption was also in the photo...

Strike

This afternoon we all caught a bus to The Hope Community Hall to hear the music group "Strike." We thought they would be hitting something ..... and we weren't wrong! There were three musicians and they had drums on a big stand that they were striking. They also played special wooden logs that made a different sound from the drums. Then they pretended they were going to sit down and have drink out of cans, but they were just playing around and making music! They looked as if they were having lots of fun! We learnt that we can make music by hitting lots of different things to get different sounds. One thing they did that we definitely won't try was make music with fire!
