Mya wrote about what it was like when she couldn't come to school.
Welcome to our blog. We are a class of year 0-1 students (5-6 yr olds) at Hope Primary School in New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Ross and this blog is a journal of our learning experiences while we are here in Room 3.

A Visitor to Room 3
Tyler's mum brought Tyler's new bunny to school to show us. What a little cutie. Tyler has called it Buttons. Tyler told us he feeds it carrots, rabbit pellets and water. We liked feeling its soft fur.
We made robots...
This week we learnt how to make our own robots using the computers
Then we had to name them, print them out and wrote stories about them...here is a small selection of our work.
My robot has a love heart and it has a phone on it. My robot helps me tidy my room.
Olivia
I help my robot clean my room.
Jasleigh
My robot is a special robot
Jimmy
"I made a robot. It is a girl. It is Crystal," said Mya.

Painting
Art work by room 3 inspired by New Zealand artist, Don Binney's native bird paintings.
We painted the background mixing our own colours. The birds we did in pastels and then glued onto the background.

No Helmet - No Brain
As part of our road safety unit this term we found out how important it is to wear a helmet when cycling, scootering, skateboarding or rollerblading.
To make children and their families aware of this, Safekids New Zealand put together the 'Safekids Creative Quest'. Children got to learn about the importance of wearing a helmet and they could win some great prizes for their schools and themselves. For classes in Years 1 to 3, the challenge was to create an illustrated story with the theme of ‘No helmet - No brain!’
So Rooms 3 and 4 entered the illustrated story competition.....
Part of the competition is the "Peoples Choice Award"
We would love it if you could support us by clicking on this link to cast your vote. Just scroll down the web page you arrive on until you find the Hope School entries, then find your favourites to vote on. It's as easy as clicking on the 'thumbs up' symbol beside each entry.
Thanks in advance Room 3.
If you want to know what the entries look like they are in the slide show below. But to vote you still need to visit the SafeKids link above.

Typing Our Names
We have been learning to:
Type our names on the computer....
We have to use the 'shift' key to make a capital letter
We have to find the correct letters on the key board, in the correct order
and we have to use the 'space bar' to create a space between each persons name.
In the mornings when we arrive at school we add our names to a list on the computer. This is giving each of us some good practise every day.
Here is Jasmine and Reuben typing their names when they arrived at school one day this week...
