We were practising suggesting new ideas to others and also trying out some ideas suggested by someone else. We did very well with this today and quite a few of us were able to make suggestions for our friends to try out.
Welcome to our blog. We are a class of year 0-1 students (5-6 yr olds) at Hope Primary School in New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Ross and this blog is a journal of our learning experiences while we are here in Room 3.

Descriptive writing about the wind
Today at school there was a very strong, cold wind. This gave us a perfect opportunity to write using describing words in our writing. We went outside and felt the wind in our faces and then looked at a tree that was blowing in the wind. Here are some of our great stories...
It was cold outside. The tree looked like a
monkey swinging it’s tail. The leaves were shaking.
Skylah
The wind was like a dolphin flying and felt
like I was in magic land. It felt like a storm around my head. The tree was
like an octopus.
Seraphina
The wind felt like an ice cube. It was
cold.
The trees were waving around.
Noah
The wind was like a hurricane. The wind in
the tree looked like a terrible monster.

Our Discovery Activities this week were: Plastercine Sculptures, Making some Octopus, Painting with Leaves and Flowers, a Giant Cardboard box, Frozen coloured ice Cubes, as well as Badminton...but it was a bit windy for the badminton today.
We were learning about giving other people new ideas to try out and also how to try new ideas suggested by others...We are still working on these skills....It is tricky when you are 5 to try things that other people suggest!!

Our Pirate Pictures
We used a clip on YouTube that showed us how to draw a pirate. It took us through 15 different steps until in the end we had drawn a great pirate...We surprised ourselves with our drawings, they were pretty good!
Then with a splash of pastel colour and some dye our pirates were finished.
Later this term we will be taking part in our school production "Pirates of The Curry Bean" I wonder if we will see any pirates like these? Best Viewed in Full Screen

A duck and ducklings came to school!!
Today when Ms Shaw and I were doing some work at school.... (as you do when you're a Teacher and it's school holidays). We saw some very cute little ducklings and their mother. There were 14 little babies all wanting to have a look at our classrooms. They wandered up Room 4's ramp and were looking pretty comfortable in the sun. We managed to show the mother duck the way out the gate and she took her babies to the paddock across the road. Oh so cute!
