We have been looking at some shapes and we have discovered that shapes of all types and sizes are all around us....Today we took to the playground with the iPads to see what we could find.
Welcome to our blog. We are a class of year 0-1 students (5-6 yr olds) at Hope Primary School in New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Ross and this blog is a journal of our learning experiences while we are here in Room 3.

Some lovely Tellagami's from Harry, Skylah, Rylie, Kayla, Hunter and Seb.
Pirates
Everyone at school has been practising for our school production "Pirates of the Curry Bean".
We are going to perform it on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Room 3 children are 'Ship Rats' in the show but we just couldn't help ourselves and got dressed up as pirates to do a dance that will be used as part of the credits for the show. The video of our dance will be posted here in a few days. Meanwhile take a look at us as pirates.

Annual A and P Show Creations
It's that time of year again... we all get to enter a decorated biscuit, a novelty fruit and vege creation, and a sand saucer into the A and P show.
What a fun filled day of imagination and creativity.
("I have to apologise....in all the excitement and busyness of the day, I forgot to take photos of the finished biscuits. I am so very sorry".)
Photos follow of the children working on their biscuits, the fruit/vege creations and their sand saucers.
You can pop along to the A and P Show, at the Richmond Show Grounds this weekend and view all the entries from Hope School, as well as other schools in our district. Enjoy!

This weeks activities for Discovery Time were:
Making clothes from newspaper, Fluffy soap foam, Making hairy Harry's (with grass seed), Marble tracks, and wood work.
Our focus for this session was to make sure we were using the equipment we were given properly...some of us need a bit more learning when scissors and saw's are involved!
But even so we had sooo much fun and created some amazing things!
Take a look.

Athletics
On Monday 10th Nov we joined together with the juniors from Appleby School to take part in some athletics activities. The children, parents and teachers from Appleby came to Hope School where we enjoyed the activities together. This was a great opportunity for our children to meet children of the same age from another school.
And of course we had a lot of fun!!

Yet another amazing Discovery Time
This weeks activities during Discovery Time were:
making fruit kebabs, face painting, construction with boxes, cars in the sandpit, tea parties and making a rainbow fish.
We were again practising giving our friends new ideas to try when they are making and creating. Then we had to practise trying out these ideas that our friends suggested.
We are good at this now...but some of us have found that sometimes these ideas from friends, don't work, and we have to try something else. Great Learning.
