Oh what a beautiful day!

How could you not want to be outside having a picnic or blowing bubbles on such a lovely Spring day! For Discovery Time this week we were looking at Problem Solving...some of us had to figure out what to put in the seed pot first....the pea seed or the potting mix.
Also we were trying to make noise with water and glasses: lots of problem solving there. How to make sure our stencil stayed still on the paper. So much learning today and a lot of fun in the process.

We have a plan....

Hope School will soon be holding their annual Country Fair. Part of this day is of course the ever popular "Silent Auction".
Room 3 plan to have two pieces of art work to add to the Auction. Our art work will be a creation of koru designs. We have been learning how to draw koru's for a few weeks. Here are some of our practise pieces.

We have also created some cardboard templates of our designs so we can trace around them to recreate our koru patterns.

So now we have learnt how to trace our koru's and have more practise pictures.

Our joint art work of koru patterns is now started and we are very happy with it so far. We will each have our own section of a canvas. These canvas's will be up for auction so keep an eye on this blog to see our creation take shape. Maybe you would like to have one of these hanging at your house.....??

Using Tellagami to retell our stories.

When using Tellagami on the iPads we have a lot to learn and remember....
We have to take a photo of our book and set it as the Tellagami background. We create a character: choosing a male or female, then clothes, shoes, hairstyles, eyes, skin and facial expressions. We need to position our character and resize it if necessary. Then we have to remember how to record our voice. As well as recall what the story we have taken a photo of, is about and talk about it. Then we need to save our Tellagami so our teacher can find it later and add it to this blog. So much learning!
These children are only 5 and have been using Tellagami... doing all of the above completely independently. Fantastic work guys, well done.
